Back in 1977, Raimund Liebling, a French-born Polish national & British resident, raped a 13-year-old girl in Los Angeles. Rather than face jail time, he went to France & has not returned to the United States since. Recently some evidence has come to light that the legal proceedings were tainted, prompting Liebling to request yesterday that the charges against him be dropped. I was angry about this news all day. Raimund Liebling is the birth name of Roman Polanski. Maybe he's right & the course of justice was indeed technically perverted. But there is no doubt that he committed the crime. So I can't understand why he's bringing this up. I'm angry not only because he has evaded punishment due to his wealth and fame, but also because he has done so as a foreigner (a perhaps controversial feeling that I can explain.) Anyway, I hope to see this movie, Roman Polanski: Wanted & Desired, wherein the grounds for dropping the charges are explained.
